Pictures/Apologies and Wet Suits

Apologies for yesterdays hack by Milo. Funny sort of guy but hey he can speak to turtles, so thats not all bad.

As reported a couple of days ago I trialled my new wetsuit with a degree of success. That was until late yesterday when my confidence over took my ability and I managed to do a great hamstring tear in my left leg while attempting a manoeuvre on a wave that was not meant for the manoeuvre - bummer.

The Wetsuit Report:

Type: RIP CURL E-Bomb Pro 22

Comfort:
Very similar to wearing Lycra and I found the flexibility and lightweight feel of it refreshing and allowed easy movement.

Surprises:
Very flexible under the arms with no feeling of restriction or friction. This also applied to the important crutch area. Extremely lightweight.

Warmth:
A few more surfs will determine this as the water has been warm in Crescent. I did notice that the possible compromise for freedom across the shoulders (front zip configuration) is a slight feeling of coldness in that area. Having said that, water hardly entered the wetsuit at all, quite a good experience. Some may say this doesn't allow water out either.......I resisted the usual urinical discharge, although always an option if too cold.

Comments for the mature surfer:
Very easy to enter and get out of despite the front zip, for me it was as easy as a back zip. Super forgiving and flexible. Now for the mature bits.......Gut factor - Because of the extreme flexibility there is no hiding the beer gut as it protrudes proudly and boldly where other wetsuits may act as a corsett this one will not. (note: I didn't have this problem because mine has disappeared with all this healthy living). The peas and sausage factor........Because of the extra flex material used in the crutch area it allows a Johnny Holmes or "hi there donkey"look providing the gut does not distract from the crutch area. As you know I have always found a banana in the strategic area a great way to walk to the shore for a surf, after that.....well....

Overall rating: 8.5 out of 10.

Should any other wetsuit makers like a report please send me an email and I will be more than pleased to test the product. Until otherwise convinced, I think Rip Curl does exceed in wetsuits as that was their core product when they started business all those years ago.

Words that provoke thought

The pen is mightier than the sword - except if you try to hit someone with it and then I would prefer the sword.
