Welcome to a rather focused addition of 6Ps.
Todays post includes a critical summation of Dave Rastovich (Rasta) and some photogrpahic views of interesting people. Included is a short clip of the movie Minds in the Water. A great clip showing Rasta surfing and the causes he supports.
Dave Rastovich has always been alternate or belatedly mainstream depending on your point of view. His enthusiasm and dedication to the causes he undertakes is inspirational, and certainly well supported for their worthiness. An example of this is the anti dolphin slaughter in Japan.
While this clip and subsequent reaction to it is nearly 12 months old it is still very relevant.
So here it is:
6Ps supports the fight against meaningless slaughter of marine life and is a supporter of Sea Shepherd.
Dave Rastovich

OK, someone with a high profile is always best suited to speak up for worthwhile causes, and Dave Rastovich has such a profile amongst the surfing fraternity and those with a green mind. He is also sponsored and pay rolled by Billabong, so to draw a long bow, without the corporate support for Dave to have such a profile, it may have less impact, or none at all.
This is not to take away from the sincerity of Rastas endeavours.
Personally, and this is not necessarily the view of the 6Ps publishers, Dave may benefit from speech lessons and a little more education of the basic kind. I have viewed and listened to a number of his comments throughout films and really find them, almost without exception, infantile and quite grating.
His english is terrible and his statements are just plain - "What the!!??". Good examples of this are found in the movie - The Present.
I can almost hear the uproar from those still reading this article.
OK.........so I could go on and on about what I see as grating in this mans speech and "trippy" voice, but that is negative and accomplishes very little in furthering any causes.
So I guess what I am saying is that with the backing of his main sponsor, a little media presentation course and some basic english lessons could really benefit him personally and the causes he represents.
There is no doubting his sincerity, but...........its all in the presentation.
Cheers

To remain with todays theme, some wonderful pictures for your viewing pleasure:
In last weeks post we described the advent of the digital age and photography. In particular the focus is now on the creative outcome rather than the technical operation of cameras and lenses.
At 6Ps we always find unusual or different photographs that we like on the site located at the side of this page - The common ground of Byron Bay.
Check the tat...........go girl!
So where are they? Do they care? What stories could they tell?
Do ya reckon it would work?
Sunrise..............
A bit of surfing footage taken by 6Ps earlier in the year.
We are excited in the filming department at 6Ps. Our water camera has arrived and we are making all the necessary adjustments to bring you film from the water as well as from the land. Stay tuned for more on this as we hone our skills.
In the meantime support those causes that you believe in and we support the endeavours of Dave Rastovich.
Aloha
