Beyond the wall

Todays post features nice sights and sounds. A few pictures from my trip to the Tweed Coast and a film clip titled "Living".

The film clip has very uplifting music and full volume is recommended. The ocean has been captured in an ideal state with surfers playing in and on it.

I have a site on "vimeo" which allows me to produce the film in HD format making it a clearer picture. I have a link on the side this page to take you there. If not, enjoy it on the embedded YouTube.

I remember either reading or listening to someone who once described surfing in this way:

"No other experience matches the feeling a surfer has when riding a wave. The combination of being totally in the moment where nothing else exists is truly a unique thing. To ride a wave that has reached the end of its long journey from deep in the ocean and only exists once, makes it different from any other sport in the world. Some may say its not a sport but a soulful "at one with nature" experience. Add to the mix sea life swimming by and the colours of the ever changing ocean and it is best described as spiritual".

I hope I have captured that in todays film.

When ever I travel to the Gold Coast and surrounding areas I am always taken in by Mount Warning which sits as the backdrop to Murrwillimbah and the Tweed Coast. It also sits in front of Nimbin, the original Hippie village.

Mount Warning sitting and watching all that it sees.

One of the debates on the Gold Coast is the return of Kirra. I can report it is gradually coming back with activists assisting in its quicker return by lobbying for the old groin to be rebuilt.

There are some things about Kirra that have not changed since the days Michael Peterson popularised barrel riding. It brings back such innocent memories to me because there was a landmark that I searched for when the old highway used to wind its way around the coast line. When you spotted it you knew you were at your destination and as it backdrop heading into Kirra were perfect waves peeling their way into the beach.

A simple building that has seen more than most:

News on Milo Minderbinder:

As some of you may be aware when I travelled to the Tweed Coast a couple of weeks ago, Milo decided to head to Nimbin. While I was nervous about this sojourn I cannot control this guy, and would not want to anyway. He is the creative editing part of the film crew so it is important he remain a little sane to ensure the films produced make sense.

Well........Milo did not return to Crescent Head with me, he remained in Nimbin up to a couple of days ago when I picked him up from the train station at Kempsey. A quick hose off in the car park at the station and a change of clothes assisted me in getting him back home in the car. His cheesecloth rainbow shirt was ruined and his hemp jeans were only half of what they used to be. Allegedly he lit them up to smoke them on the train. Currently he is still up in a tree in my backyard humming ' All along the watchtower" with the occasional mouthed guitar sounds of Jimi Hendrix.

Acid is a funny thing................

Anyway I am sure he will be back to normal soon.

Please enjoy this video which will take you beyond the wall you are sitting behind:

( A higher definition clip is available on vimeo - link at side of page)

Having spent most of my life in a corporate environment, and always looking out the window, dreaming, I really hope this site delivers some relief for those who may be in that situation. The objective of this site is to deliver some photos/films/stories to escape for just one moment. If I do that for just one person, than I have helped them to keep going and know that one day they will be "out there"........beyond the wall.

Aloha
