There are some people that really make a difference while they are fooling around on Earth. You know the types, politicians, murderers, Corporate giants, guys who own large sailing boats, the women who "accidentally"get their bedroom scenes on the internet, drug dealers and lets not forget TV game show hosts.
Well........I guess that is more of a reflection on those who think they make a difference.
But of course there are real people ,with real deeds, that do make a difference, but see fame as a less of a priority than the difference they wish to make. That can range from fighting bushfires through to saving an endangered animal species. Everything in between, volunteering to work in a third world country, working to save the planet and not taxing it, those sort of things. You know...... not too many people know about them, but they make a huge difference.
There is also a personal side to this, where someone or something has made a difference to your life and led you down a track to make a difference, hopefully without the razza mattaz.
Inspiring sight.

There have been many people and events that has made a difference to some of us at 6Ps.
- Ian Bishop - A boss who taught us that simple basics help run a company and help lift people beyond their own expectations.
- Bob Shaw - A school friend who died at 21 years of age who taught me about true friendship.
- Michael Peterson and Andy Irons -Of equal lesson learning, and making a difference while here on Earth. That people who are different are not always crazy, there are lessons they leave behind. Shooting stars that explode all too early.
- The Malloy Brothers - By following what they believe in they make great movies that inspire and show that money is not everything, but places are!
Actually, there is a list way too big for this blog, but from the few examples above, 2 people will never be known to everyone but did make a positive difference. It is all a personal thing I guess.

Anyway, this is a bit all naval gazing stuff.......but, relevant to who we wish to introduce on todays blog.
None other than Wayne Lynch, yep, the goofy footer who surfed like a rhythmic dancer. A Victorian by birth, a human of the world. During his reigning years he did vertical backhand re entries on a single fin like no other, it took your breath away.
He just wanted to surf, make a difference with surfboard design and be very low profile. He came from a generation haunted by the horrors of the Vietnam War, and the "surfie" bum stigma. Things were a little up hill against the established laws and understanding of the purity of surfing.
At 6Ps we are stoked that there is finally a movie documentary out to celebrate his life (so far). It describes amongst other great things his objection to the Vietnam War, and how he disappeared off the map for 2 years being protected by his surfing fraternity. He had been drafted to the Army but chose to fight against the absurd laws of the day and the futility of the war. Not an easy path to take at the time.
He did however make a difference. The drafting legislation was repealed, the futility of the war was eventually recognised and he inspired people to take their own path.
Please take the time to watch this short trailer to understand what making a difference can mean.
Named "Uncharted Waters" it is in the cinemas now.
Aloha
