The Launch and The Story behind "PARALLEL"

It is official, the launch date of "Parallel" is Sunday the 21st September 2014.

A preview of the film will be shown at The Crescent Head Tavern, Crescent Head Australia from 3pm.

The venue is overlooking the beautiful beach of Crescent Head, and we will be having a live band "OFFSHORE" playing their great brand of music. There will also be prizes and giveaways for those who purchase the DVD on the day.

We would love to see you there!!!!

So what did it take to produce "PARALLEL"?

Of course from a readers perspective you may expect us to say something along the lines of back breaking hours of filming in some pretty crazy places in all sorts of weather. Expensive plane trips to exotic places, then boat trips to get THAT surfer performing on a huge wave.

Carrying heavy equipment on your back and walking for an hour or so to get THAT unusual event or shot of people doing something hardly seen before.

Trekking through jungle to get THAT film of animals behaving erratically. All in humid hot conditions.

Spending time at the local surf spot in the beautiful warmth of the Australian sun in Autumn and Spring. Trying to film locals without them knowing it, sort of like a pervert behind a tree..........

These are the things you would expect us to say..............but there is more.

Collaborating with very talented film makers to get shots of swell when you can not be there and then get to use it in your own film. Film makers who have perfected the art of filming from Drones so that the shots are unique and spectacular. ( by the way, the word collaborating sounds a little like countries collaborating to take over oil fields. It is best to explain, I should really use these words...."work with in a co operative manner")

These are things you would expect us to say about the filming process. Well.......that is right, we did do all that.

Let us move onto editing.

Of course from a readers perspective you may expect us to say something along the lines of "Oh Fuck!! If I spend one more minute behind the computer fine tuning, precise editing, fps format for PAL, finding music that suits the clip and drinking until 4am in the morning I will die!!!!!!!!

Yep that is right that is what we would say!

Lets move onto cover design and DVD Burning.

That was simple this time around. Or was it? We purposely keep DVD covers very simple and descriptive because we do not like "showy" covers with the mandatory "surf scene " on it. We just like the Title on the front, credits on the back, along with a little bit of an explanation of things.
Two colours or maybe three to eliminate expenditure.
The label on the DVD follows the same rules as for the cover, simple but tasteful.

We decided this time around to "work with" a professional organisation, to free our heads up for promotion and launching. Simple thing really, we all work together (collaborate) and everyone benefits.

Well at least that is how we saw it. The organisation (best left unnamed right now) decided this was a great opportunity to deceive in pricing, ask us to put all the words into a template provided and would we like fries with that?

After a serious meeting with this organisation we walked away not being ripped off and of them understanding that we actually knew about business and how it works. Slightly embarrassed they now have a working relationship with us.

So what should have been a simple process turned into something a little like a game of poker. Don't you just despise that? At 6Ps we thought deceiving behaviour in business was left behind in the 1980s.

So, that leaves us where we are right now. All jobs done, and launch mode.

We have had nothing but fun in organising the launch and promotional events.

EVERY last thing we have done right up to now we would not swap, as a matter of fact.............we will be doing it all over again very soon.

See you all on the 21st sept. (you can buy online, see paypal at side of this page)

Aloha
