Timing and Journeys

Your 6Ps reporter has returned to Crescent Head after a trip to the Gold Coast , and points in between.

While a great amount of film was collected the surf was not too kind and a lack of swell did not have the big guns out doing their flip flop wham boom stuff. Having said that I enjoyed a couple of quality surfs at Snapper and North Kingscliffe.

Memorable moments included a charter fishing expedition out to Sea and the subsequent storm that had us dashing for land...........more on that in my next post, including film.

Milo certainly recommends the Salt Bar at Salt (in between Kingscliffe and Casurina). Many a strange animal was observed in that fine establishment and Milo was in his element.

My thanks go to the people of Kingscliffe who were very friendly and were not afraid to recommend "secret surfing spots".

The places I am still to explore in entirety are Angourie, Mullaway and Arrawarra. Great to have these trips in front of me. The North Coast is truly a beautiful place with a great back drop in the form of Volcanic landscape.

One of the pleasurable moments was catching up with 14 year old Ellie Brooks who's surfing future is looking very good. Her backhand is electric and for a 14 year old is certainly pushing boundaries with titles in under 16, and also won an open event last Sunday.

I had time with her father, James, who is obviously proud of her achievements but has kept feet firmly planted on the ground. A nice family who deserve success.

I present some brief film of Ellie, turn up the volume, watch and enjoy:

Crescent Point is flat as a run over cat today, however, Richardsons Crossing is looking good, so I'm off to wet the old body, attempt an air (yeah right....) and just have fun. In the end surfing and the surfing journey is just a whole lot of fun to be taken in and enjoyed.

Timing is everything when filming surfing and while this journey did not produce the best conditions, quality times were enjoyed.

Aloha
