Sure there has been a lack of swell but the last couple of days has improved and it is looking pretty damn good.
The whole of Crescent Head has taken on a tranquil feel......a bit slower perhaps than normal, but everyone saying hullo to each other as the crowds are back in their respective areas and the familiar faces of locals appear. A time to breathe in less warmer air, but clear as a an American Presidents memory.
The water is "see through", the whales are jumping and the colours are vivid, not to mention the surfers harmony with all that is dear to their hearts.
The temperatures have been down to 1 or 2 degrees celcius overnight but warming to the 20s during the day. Really, it is just so bloody cold at night that you can't help but sleep under the thickest blanket you can find and dream of the following day where you will be rewarded by clear crisp sky and rideable surf in an atmosphere that is perfect.

Of a late afternoon surfers morph into shadows floating over the top of waves barely recognisable as the colours become stark.
The pace of life has taken on its rhythmic winter slowdown. Even the animals are slower..............(no reference to roadkill on the roads..) The snakes are asleep, but still under that corrugated iron left in the back paddock, haven't seen a spider around for awhile and the flys have moved to somewhere else to annoy those people who are standing next to cows dung.
The winds are mostly offshore and steady with a crisp touch of cool mountain air. somehow everything seems cleaner. The summer breezes have stopped blowing salt onto the shore, and are having a rest, all in time for the next round.
Yep winter on the mid north coast is here and loving it.
aloha
